Here is a sign writing project for any classic vehicle that often tows a trailer, caravan etc. This sign will be used on our 1951 and 1957 Land Rover Series 1's, it will also be used on our more modern vehicles.

For originality this sign was painted on an aluminium plate measuring 20½ x 4½ inches, which is the same size used on early standard rectangular number plates. These blank plates were often used for hand painted towing signs. The aluminium plate was etch primed with 2-pack primer and then three coats of white applied ready for the red lettering.

As with our number plates, we have used our own derivative of the early font or style used by the famed "Ace" registration plate manufacturer in the 1950's. Each character is 3½ inches high by 2½ inches wide with the correct spacing used on the early number plates.

Once complete the 1950's style sign written plate is finished off with a red border then lacquered to protect the work.
